A Conversation with Myself

Having posted my first blog yesterday, I feel experienced enough to speak about the activity of blogging.  It appears that blogging is the act of chatting with yourself in a way that is interesting to others.  I talk to myself all the time, but I am not sure that patter is interesting, any more than I am sure that my blogs are interesting. So what does make a blog interesting?

Reflecting on the activity of blogging, I realize it is an art form.  There are many articles, both scholarly, and otherwise that speak about blogging.  I think the best advice that I could find was a mixture of many different perspectives on blogging that included:

  • tell your story
  • write for yourself
  • find a style you are comfortable with
The Writing a Blog for Dummies site http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/writing-a-good-blog.html was very helpful.

So, this is my story about blogging.  Eventually, I will get more comfortable with putting myself out there.  After all,  I am published in print, so this cannot be that much different. Right?

  1. Karen I think blogging allows us to almost have an online journal, and for this particular LRNT 502 class it has a specific focus. You have much knowledge to share and opinions that are valid - you can doooo it!

  2. I also talk to myself - but the only people interested seem to be a little scared! haha!

BLOGGING always is something I find challenging - it seems so... self-centered in some way.

However, as we develop thoughts, I think it is a great way to enter into dialog with people that aren't near us in space or time - so that benefit outweighs the awkwardness.

Looking forward to seeing your posts! ... and talking back to you!
